Brief
ShiftWise™ is a Vendor Management System (VMS) exclusively designed for healthcare organizations to manage their unique total talent needs, clinical and non-clinical, across healthcare settings.
When I first encountered SW Classic, the technical instability caused daily disruptions, with frequent crashes during critical shift changes. The complete absence of a design system meant every feature had its own visual language.
Challenges
Usability
The platform's navigation and outdated interface forced new hires through weeks of training. Staff and vendors wasted navigation time fighting unintuitive menus, while critical features went underutilized due to poor discoverability.
Design Standards
Without a design system, buttons changed color between screens, form fields behaved unpredictably, and users couldn't build mental models. The decade-old codebase limited how we could modernize interfaces without risking system stability.
Resource Limitations
Nine distributed product teams operated in reactive mode - urgent client requests constantly derailed roadmaps, resulting in only part of promised features shipping on time. Stakeholders felt unheard, and teams burned out from switching.
